Chelsea miss out on European football after defeat to Sunderland.

Sunderland won with a goal to spare the game against Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday. The team won 2-1 at Stadium of Light.

Sunderland started the match well and took the lead when Trai Hume netted after 25 minutes, with an assist by Luke O'Nien, making it 1-0.

2-0 came through an own-goal in the 50th minute.

With 56 minutes on the clock, Chelsea's Cole Palmer found the net following a Pedro Neto  assist to pull one back for Chelsea.

Chelsea's Wesley Fofana was sent off in the 62nd minute.

"We wanted to win today, make the best of a bad situation and get into the Europa League," Chelsea interim boss Calum McFarlane said after seeing his side miss out entirely on continental football.

The results in the final round mean Sunderland finish seventh and Chelsea finish 10th.
